About the Department

In its inaugural year, the department connected with approximately 30 organisations and successfully placed 140 students. Since then, the number of recruiting organisations has grown exponentially, with an average of 200 nationally renowned organisations visiting the campus annually. In 2016, 178 companies/organisations extended 1,200 offers to the passing-out batch.

To facilitate a fair and transparent talent search, the department operates from an independent Placement and Training Block on the first floor of the Administrative Block. This dedicated facility offers executives complete autonomy and convenience, providing all necessary resources for the recruitment process, including a seminar hall for company presentations, group discussion rooms, conferencing facilities and interview/discussion rooms.

Soft Skill
Training Programme

The Department of Training & Placement facilitates an institutional training programme designed to equip students with essential life and career skills. This programme, totalling 72 hours, is designed to develop individuals across various dimensions necessary for a successful corporate career. Spanning the second and third years of the Bachelor’s Degree programme, it comprises 36 hours of training delivered by experienced partners who possess in-depth knowledge and skills in personality orientation and development pedagogy.

Value-added
Activities

The Department of Placement & Training is dedicated to enhancing students’ credentials and developing high-quality engineering professionals. This is achieved by planning and implementing value-added programmes such as personality development, technology training and bridge courses, all tailored to industry interests and requirements.

The department also provides crucial pre-placement training for pre-final year students. This includes pre-placement talks by various industries and corporations, training from seniors on written test formats, and insights into different industry interview processes. Furthermore, the department regularly organises talks by professionals from various universities for those considering higher education abroad, and by trainers for competitive exams like CAT, GMAT and aptitude tests.

Career Guidance &
Higher Education

The Department of Placement and Training serves as a central resource for students seeking information on career and higher education opportunities. It facilitates visits from numerous international universities, organising orientation sessions and counselling on advanced studies. Beyond its placement activities, the department also guides students towards opportunities in higher education, entrepreneurship and internships.

Scholarship

The department actively collaborates with corporations to provide merit-cum-means scholarships to students. Approximately 110 students benefit from these scholarships, which total Rs. 72,00,000/- and are sponsored by agencies such as ABB, CTS, FFE, Devon and Boeing.

Infrastructure & Facilities

The Placement Office at RVCE boasts a spacious 739 sq. meters, housing a Seminar Hall with a 70-person seating capacity and full audio-video capabilities. It also includes the Placement Officer’s room, a pantry, staff room, reception area, a library, six interview rooms, and two group discussion rooms. The integration of video conferencing facilities is currently under consideration, with proposals already received from suppliers.

Leadership and Staff:

The department is led by Dr. D Ranganath, Dean of Placement & Training. With extensive teaching and industry experience, Dr. Ranganath guides the department’s activities. A dedicated full-time staff member ensures daily interaction with the industry and prompt responses to communication.

Technological Infrastructure:

It is fully networked with a LAN configuration, providing computers and peripherals for daily operations. Connectivity options include 22 data points for both wireless and wired networks. Wi-Fi technology is implemented in the seminar hall and conference room. The Placement Office also has exclusive internet connectivity to facilitate quick responses. Office automation is fully implemented to enhance work productivity.
