Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at RV College of Engineering (RVCE) — a leading institution known for academic excellence, innovation and a commitment to shaping future-ready technology professionals.
It is gratifying to note the completion of four decades as a department in RV College of Engineering. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a dynamic hub of innovation, creativity and academic excellence. Our mission is to equip students with a strong foundation in computing principles, practical skills in modern technologies and a mindset for lifelong learning. We strive to foster an environment that encourages research, entrepreneurship and collaboration across disciplines.
The B.E. (CSE) programme at RVCE is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for a period of six years. The recently introduced programmes, B.E. (CSE–Data Science), B.E. (CSE–Cyber Security) and B.E. (CSE–AIML), in our department also uphold the high standards in technical education and continually evolve to meet the demands of a fast-changing digital world. We also offer two Master’s programmes, M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and M.Tech. in Computer Networks and Engineering (CNE). These programmes are aligned with advanced industry trends and research directions. Both the M.Tech. programmes are accredited by NBA for three years.
The Department of CSE has a Centre of Excellence in Cognitive Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Solutions (CISSS) and a Centre of Competence in Visual Computing, formerly known as the CCTV Research Centre. The department holds MoUs for research, consultancy and training with multinational companies. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has industry-sponsored labs from CISCO, IBM and the Nvidia GPU Research Centre. It has been actively involved in funded research projects supported by government agencies like DRDO, ISRO, AICTE and KFDCL. Multinational companies LexisNexis, CISCO, Citrix, Nihon and Gnostice are a few companies that have offered consultancy projects to the department, ensuring that our academic and research activities remain relevant and impactful. This creates a vibrant ecosystem for students to engage in real-world problem solving, innovation and collaboration beyond the classroom. This is essentially because of the commitment of all the faculty members in the department.
To our industry partners, we extend an invitation to collaborate more with a department that is deeply committed to producing highly skilled, industry-ready professionals. Our curriculum is continually updated to reflect the latest trends in technology including artificial intelligence, data science, cyber security and cloud computing. We emphasise hands-on experiential learning, real-world problem solving and research-driven development. Through internships, joint projects, guest lectures and placement support, we aim to bridge the gap between academia and the rapidly evolving tech industry. We are eager to continue working together in advancing innovation and addressing today’s complex digital challenges.
