Established in 2015 with a vision to nurture future Aerospace Leaders, the Department has, over the past decade, evolved into one of the country’s most prestigious and globally recognised destinations for undergraduate Aerospace Programmes. In an era defined by technological leaps, space exploration, and sustainable aviation, the Department offers a transformative academic experience that blends rigorous theoretical foundations with hands-on, practical learning.

Our curriculum, meticulously crafted by academic and industry experts, ensures students succeed in a dynamic Aerospace Ecosystem. Core focus areas include Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Flight Mechanics, Aerospace Structures, and Avionics, along with other emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc.

The Academic Journey is powered by our Resourceful, Skilled, and Highly Competent Faculty Team, whose passion for teaching, research, and mentorship fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity, innovation and excellence. Faculty expertise, combined with strong industry collaborations, ensures our students are constantly inspired and challenged to achieve their highest potential. A flagship highlight is an industrial elective course designed and delivered by Boeing India Pvt Ltd, providing students with direct industry exposure to the design and development of complex engineering systems.

The Department offers a world-class infrastructure that includes state-of-the-art subsonic and supersonic wind tunnels, a 250 kN Universal Testing Machine (UTM), an exclusive Crawford Bomb testing facility, Avionics Lab and many more that provide students with unparalleled experiential learning opportunities. 

Our students’ accomplishments underscore our commitment to excellence. Team Vyoma and Team Jatayu, our drone design clubs, have represented RVCE at premier national and international competitions, earning accolades. Further, Team Antariksh, our students’ satellite development club, made history by launching India’s first microbiological payload satellite to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) aboard ISRO’s PSLV C-60 mission on December 30, 2024, a testament to the technical prowess and interdisciplinary spirit cultivated in the department. Annual participation in global platforms like the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and winning prestigious hackathons resulting in direct job offers, internships, and significant cash prizes demonstrates the real-world relevance and industry recognition of our students’ capabilities.
