About the Department
The Department of Chemistry started in the year 1963 and has been teaching Engineering Chemistry at the first-year level for all engineering branches. The department offers Technical Chemistry to Chemical Engineering students and global electives for all the branches of Engineering. All eleven faculty members of the department are doctoral holders. The department is equipped with two research laboratories, and four research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. programme. The research areas of interest are Organic Material Synthesis, Inorganic Complexes, Nanomaterials, Medicinal Chemistry, Elastomeric Materials and Electrospun Polymeric Films.

The Department of Chemistry has been an integral part of the institution since its establishment in 1963, playing a vital role in the core curriculum. It oversees the teaching of chemistry at various levels, including Engineering Chemistry for first-year students across all engineering branches. Additionally, the department offers global electives accessible to students from all engineering disciplines.
