The Department of Chemistry has been an integral part of the institution since its establishment in 1963, playing a vital role in the core curriculum. It oversees the teaching of chemistry at various levels, including Engineering Chemistry for first-year students across all engineering branches. Additionally, the department offers global electives accessible to students from all engineering disciplines.

With a dedicated team of eleven faculty members holding doctorates, the department is committed to delivering high-quality education while fostering strong analytical and quantitative skills, preparing students for competitive career prospects. Special attention is given to first-year students, ensuring a smooth transition into the college environment while instilling ethical learning practices.

Beyond academics, the department actively promotes research through its two well-equipped laboratories, where five research scholars are currently pursuing their Ph.D. programmes. Faculty members collaborate with various research institutes, focusing on diverse research areas, including Organic Material Synthesis, Inorganic Complexes, Nano Materials, Medicinal Chemistry, and Polymer Chemistry for energy storage and other applications. Their contributions are reflected in high-impact research publications and patents.
