The department has well-qualified, passionate and dedicated staff, most of whom are engaged in path-breaking research and development. The department has a current annual intake of 60 UG (B.E.-EEE) students and lateral entry students in the second year, and 18 PG (M.Tech. – PE) students from all parts of India.

The programmes in the department are a healthy amalgam of power engineering, power electronics, analogue and digital electronics, and computer science engineering, comprehensive and in keeping with modern trends of electrical and Electronics Engineering education. The department has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of electrical and electronics with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure is in line with the latest advances in technology, which equip the students with the latest developments in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The majority of Students are placed in renowned companies with a good package.
