About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) was established in year 1963. The Department offers an undergraduate program, B.E.(EEE) and a postgraduate programs M.Tech (Power Electronics). Department also offers Ph.D. degree in various specializations of Electrical Engineering.
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) for Research, Consultancy and training with major core companies and government agencies such as ARCADIS, MSPL, BESCOM, MEI, SMPS Odisha, Log9, BPCL, KREDL, SELCO, VKES Mysore, MNRE, GIZ & SCGJ, Ampere etc. Department has industry sponsored labs from LAPP INDIA, ABB and Flux Gen. Students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains of Electrical Engineering like Renewable energy system, Electric Vehicle, Power Electronics, Electrical Drives Smart gird control system, Smart energy and sustainable development related to SDG7 etc. and are placed in reputed companies. Department has funded projects from ISRO, DST, NIAS-INAE and KSEST etc.
The department has Centre of Excellence – e-Mobility established in 2020 with industry partner Greaves Cotton Limited and “Centre of Competence – Smart Vidyut and Sustainable Solutions” established in 2023 in collaboration with industries and utility sectors like ARCADES, VKES, BESCOM, ENERFRA, and MEI for research and project based learning activities in smart energy and sustainable solutions in line with SDG7.
The department is also been accredited for skill development programs like “Suryamitra Skill development” in association with MNRE and NISE, New Delhi, “Solar skill based programme” in association with KREDL, Bangalore, “I-Rise Project 2020” Suryamitra Upskilling Training Program funded by GIZ (RENAC), Germany, “VARUNMITRA” skill development training on solar water pump sponsored by National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), “JAL URJA MITRA” skill development programme sponsored by HRED, IIT Roorkee under MNRE government of India.

MESSAGE FROM HoD
The department has well-qualified, passionate and dedicated staff, most of whom are engaged in path-breaking research and development. The department has a current annual intake of 60 UG (B.E.-EEE) students and lateral entry students in the second year, and 18 PG (M.Tech. – PE) students from all parts of India.
The programmes in the department are a healthy amalgam of power engineering, power electronics, analogue and digital electronics, and computer science engineering, comprehensive and in keeping with modern trends of electrical and Electronics Engineering education.
