in the Digital Age
Established in 1997, RV College of Engineering’s MCA Department was its first postgraduate programme. Affiliated with VTU, Belagavi, it offers MCA, M.Sc. by Research, and Ph.D. in Computer Applications. The autonomous MCA programme (since 2016) holds four NBA accreditations (current: 2021–2026), with a sanctioned intake of 120. The department supports 32 Ph.D. scholars under 12 supervisors, having awarded 10 Ph.D.s.
The department features state-of-the-art infrastructure, encouraging interdisciplinary research and industry internships. The department boasts consistent 100% placement opportunities, an 80% placement record over three years and a 96% internship conversion rate. A dedicated team of 10 Ph.D. faculty actively engages in teaching, research and consultancy, securing ₹3.23 crores in projects. The curriculum, revised in 2020 to a two-year structure, integrates emerging technologies, industry insights and alumni contributions. The department also pioneered open-source software promotion across RVCE.
The demand for tech professionals is at an all-time high, and the MCA programme at RVCE equips students with the skills to stay ahead in AI, data analytics, cybersecurity and software development. Guided by highly qualified faculty with Doctorates across specialisations, students benefit from hands-on learning, cutting-edge research and real-world applications.
Students consistently secure top placements and internships in leading IT companies, with the 2023-2025 batch continuing the trend. The department has also completed research projects worth ₹1 crore, funded by NRB, DRDO, CSI and others, with ongoing projects valued at ₹25 lakhs.
